Constant connection with operating practice
The Otto-von-Guericke-University in Magdeburg has awarded an honorary professorship to the long-standing head of development at KS Aluminium-Technologie GmbH, Dr. Eduard Köhler. Köhler, who qualified as a professor in Magdeburg in 1996, has been working as an associate lecturer in the reciprocating engines chair in the Institute for Mobile Systems led by Dr. Helmut Tschöke at OvG University since 2001.
His teaching activity initially began with a lecture on engine and vehicle acoustics as well as noise measuring technology. The current lecture deals with designing and computing reciprocating engines. Köhler's other responsibilities at Magdeburg University include holding final examinations.
In his teaching, with all its academic requirements, Köhler has never lost sight of practical aspects and always provides the students with impressions from professional working life in order to create a profound background for starting a career later. His students were also able to benefit from Köhler's extensive contacts in the automotive industry.
Köhler received the certificate of appointment of the Minister for Education for the Federal State of Saxony-Anhalt in January 2009 from the Rector of the Otto-von-Guericke University, Prof. Klaus Erich Pollman, in the presence of the Dean of the Mechanical Engineering faculty, Prof. Karl-Heinrich Grote as well as members of the faculty.
