Development of Derendorf district

As one of the oldest companies in Düsseldorf, Rheinmetall has had close ties with the city and the region for more than 100 years. Since defense technology production was definitively relocated from Düsseldorf-Derendorf to Unterlüß in Südheide (Lower Saxony) in 1993, a long-term transformation of the urban landscape has taken place on the approximately nine hectare plot between Ulmen Straße, Heinrich-Ehrhardt-Straße and Rather Straße. A service and residential landscape has been created for 21st century city living which is gradually and sensitively incorporating old building structures into a modern architecture. The contemporary re-allocation of the former production site is pointing the way for modern living conditions and an attractive company location in Düsseldorf.

By combining life, home and work, the company town is a "town within a district," with a positive charisma that extends well beyond the region itself and is well-received by both private and commercial users. The vibrant mixture of office and industrial use with some 170 attractive town apartments and lofts is topped off by green spaces and services that provide a high level of quality of life and home. The wide range of various services offered, such as a kindergarten, restaurants as well as fitness and shopping facilities make the company town attractive both to families and entrepreneurs. Famous names including IBM, Gerry Weber, Innside Premium Hotels, Weight Watchers, Mediacom, mediaegde:cia and FitnessFirst are all to be found in the company town.

The company town is to be completed in 2014 after almost fifteen years under construction and with an investment volume of EUR 500 million.

Rheinmetall Headquarters
Rheinmetall AG moves into the fully renovated headquarters to which a modern glass office block has been added.

Workshop 29
Another flagship project is the former Rheinmetall workshop 29 with approximately 13,500 square meters, which has become a fashionable address for other reputable fashion labels following extensive modernization by Gerry Weber AG.
2008
Innside Premium Hotel
The Innside Premium Hotel (4 stars+) opened in April 2008 with more than 160 rooms: 120 studios and 40 suites. The unostentatious five-floor building is lit up in color at night.

Loft 12
The total renovation in 2007/08 saw the creation of a modern, four-story structure with approximately 8,300 square meters of rental space. Tenants include Germany's largest media agency and Grey subsidiary "MediaCom Agentur für Mediaberatung" as well as GroupM Germany.

Living Office II
The "Living Office" was built in two construction stages in Rather Straße and is currently home to offices, restaurants, doctors’ offices, a gym and the LO² residential building directly adjacent.

Cuore
The Cuore residential building with approximately 140 residential units and an underground parking lot was completed in six construction stages between 2008 and 2010.

Lighthouse
The futuristic-looking "Lighthouse" contains 9,700 square meters of office space on some 11,000 square meters of floor space. As a green building, it was designed to be economic, efficient, environmentally-friendly and save resources. The building was designed by renowned Düsseldorf architects Pezinka Pink. The company also designed the Düsseldorfer Stadttor, which has now achieved international recognition, as well as the North-Rhine Westphalia Representation House in Berlin.

The seven-floor "doubleU" has 12,500 square meters of useable office space and is a modern example of well-thought-out construction planning: In addition to flexible office allocation and various sizes for use, it features high-quality fixtures and fittings – including concrete tempering and auxiliary ventilation.

Workshop 30
The six-story office complex offers clothing companies a total of 13,500 square meters of space for showrooms and offices as well as some 270 underground parking spaces. The modern industrial architecture, including well-lit air-conditioned rooms with flexible floor plans, offers attractive options for use. The building was designed by the Spannhoff engineering and planning office agency in Melle.

casa altra
The office building "casa altra" is being constructed with a total rental space of around 12,500 square meters on a plot of approximately 5,300 square meters. The internationally known architects Mario Bellini based in Milan are responsible for the excellent modern architecture of the six-floor office block.

delta-d
In an exciting synthesis between the existing building 36 and a a new construction, the delta-d office block with approximately 14,000 square meters of space is being constructed at an exposed location on the corner of Heinrich-Ehrhardt Strasse and Rather Straße.
