EUR 15,000 for SOS Gaffenberg
KSPG AG has donated EUR 15,000 to rescue Europe’s largest children’s forest recreation home, the Gaffenberg in Heilbronn. On June 16, 2011, KSPG Management Board member Peter Sebastian Krause symbolically presented an outsized SOS Gaffenberg logo to Dietmar Fütterer, the CEO of the Heilbronner Bürgerstiftung, a citizens’ foundation to support their city.
Every year, around 2,300 children and young adults spend part of their vacations at the Gaffenberg in Heilbronn. Most of the forest home’s buildings date from the immediate post-war years and are in need of thorough renovation if the home is to be saved. Approximately one million euros is needed, some of which is to be raised through donations. The Heilbronn Bürgerstiftung has launched the "SOS Gaffenberg" campaign for this purpose.
"Since many of our employees and their families live in and around Heilbronn, we are delighted as a company with roots in this region to contribute in this way to maintaining an institute that provides a popular and greatly appreciated range of opportunities for the children of working parents during their vacations," commented Krause. "It helps people to combine their families with their jobs."
Dietmar Fütterer is delighted about the donation: "The Gaffenberg contributes to the quality of life in our region. We appreciate the donation all the more since it also contributes to the region’s family-friendliness."
Since 1927, many thousands of children from the Heilbronn area have spent their vacations in the forest home on the Heilbronn Gaffenberg. They made friends here, learnt to appreciate nature and forged an attachment to their home region.
Motorcyclists from Pierburg Pump Technology, Pierburg and Rheinmetall took part in the Biker4Kids parade in May 2011, the third time it has been held so far this year. All participation fees as well as sponsor money and proceeds from the day went to the ambulant children's hospice service Düsseldorf Nordcarree. For the first time this year, children who are cared for by the children's hospice were able to travel in a bus in the middle of the motorbike parade.
Biker4Kids is a community of interests for motorcyclists who, in various campaigns, support the work of the German children's hospice, i.e. the care of children with terminal illnesses.
Donation campaign for 100th company anniversary
Employees and corporate management of the Kolbenschmidt-Pierburg Group donated €10,000 to three charitable organizations in the Heilbronn area which care for children in particular. The groups selected are the Heilbronner Klinikclowns, the Pfiffgunde Association and the support for homeless children by the charitable organization Diakonisches Werk.
The donations were presented in the KSPG AG headquarters in Neckarsulm in December 2010. Most of the sum donated came from the proceeds of an employee party held to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Neckarsulm company. Added to this was a collection by the Works Council as well as a private donation and, thanks to further donations by the company Group, in the end a total of €10,000 was collected for this campaign.
KSPG greatly values the successful work of the three selected organizations. Their commitment contributes on a daily basis towards helping young people in the region where adversity has arisen for various reasons. This important work is also recognized in industrial circles.
KSPG's Management Board was therefore very happy to welcome the employees' idea of donating the proceeds from the anniversary family day to organizations that work for the welfare of the local community for children and young people. The company was also happy to round up the amount raised along with the management of the KS companies in Neckarsulm. KSPG has supported the Pfiffigunde Association for several years. To date, the company has donated a total of over €21,000 to the organization which provides support to children and young people affected by sexual abuse.
